Is windows defender a smart option

Hello! I am a Windows 7 user and my anti-virus subscription just expired. For some odd reasons I could not subscribe to the anti-virus again so for that reason my computer kept on displaying this message that I should enhance my security "Your computer might be at risk" I knew that expired anti-virus was of no use and I came across windows defender. It was an older version so I just updated it from the internet and it has been working fine till this date. My question is if windows defender is as good as any other anti-virus, does it protect my computer the same way like the anti-viruses?

Is windows defender a smart option

Hello,

Windows Defender is the default security solution for Windows but it isn’t the smartest choice. It falls quite far behind than other professional security programs like Norton, Kaspersky, BitDefender etc.

Windows Defender is developed by Microsoft, which is mainly focused on OS, Office apps etc. Windows Defender came with Windows 7 by default since it was launched. Microsoft has recently developed their latest security solution, Microsoft Security Essentials, MSE in short.

This has quite a bad result in AV Test. It’s the most trusted source of security programs’ review. In the report, it has earned quite a bad reputation where you can check about Norton, Kaspersky etc. has better result than that.

Using programs like Kaspersky, Norton, BitDefender is recommended as they’re completely focused on it and is able to provide more security.
