Why is it that I keep on getting the error message 1603 when I try to upgrade my iPad’s software to ios5? I want to fix this while in recovery mode to eradicate the error message 1603 that keeps on popping up. I don’t want to do a full reset because this will surely be going to wipe away all the documents I have in my iPAD.

Hallo Barryn,

Maybe you are not using the right software to upgrade your operating system and that is why you keep getting that certain error. Check the system specs of your ipad, whether it is a 32 bit and whether it allows working with the program version that you intend to upgrade to or it is specifically designed to use the one on it now.

Once you have verified the specs of the ipad, get a program that suits those specs and use it to perform the upgrade. If it uses a 32 bit kind of OS right now, then get a 32 bit version to use for the upgrade too, otherwise you will continue getting the error.
