Hi,

I have been using Paint.Net for a long time and working perfectly but now when I try to use this program I get the following error message. I could not understand what happened to this while I did nothing wrong. I made a drawing and using the internet and the next day I received this annoying error message. How can I solve this issue? Please help me. Thanks.

There was an unhandled error, and Paint.NET must be closed. Refer to the file ‘pdncrash.log’, which has been placed on your desktop, for more information.

An unhandled error when starting Paint dot NET

The issue is faced when installation has not been successful. Update should resolve the error but many times fails to do so. Take the following steps:

1. Check if the following file are present in the paint.net installation directory Paintdotnet.systemlayer.native.x86.dll

2. Then check if windows system directory has the following two files: dwrite.dll and d2d1.dll

3.  Check if Windows is updated. Update windows. Reboot the system.

4. If any of the files are absent, go to Platform update. Once update is completed, reboot the system.

This should resolve the issue. If you still face this problem download the stable version v3.5.5
