I am checking a client’s laptop. The problem is, it connects with the internet but the browser cannot open any site. It just keeps saying Internet Explorer cannot display the page. The operating system I am using is Windows Vista. How can I fix the error?

Your internet explorer might be restricting to open the pages. Try out these steps:
Go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Settings and check that "Use a proxy server for this connection" is not checked.
It would be advisable to perform a operating system cleaning of the caches
Restart your system in MSDOS mode and at the C:Windows> prompt key in the following, press Enter after each line:
smartdrv
deltree tempor~1
deltree cookies
deltree history
exit
if this doesn’t fix up your problem then there might be some problem in your DNS and the settings. Call up your service provider and check if you are using the right settings.

It might be due to DNS error.

Do following steps.

  • Open Local Area Network Connection Properties.
  • Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4
  • Click on Use the Following DNS server addresses.
  • Here use following NS

208.67.220.220

208.67.222.222

Press OK .

Hope this will work.
