Trouble uninstalling Microsoft Office 2007

Hello all,

I own a brand new Asus Eee PC net book containing a trial version of MS Office 2007. After the usage of several days, it got expired and can’t be used since it asks to purchase a premium version of the software. But as I have an original version of MS Office Enterprise 2007, so I chose to uninstall 2007 version for the PC. Currently, I have Windows Vista Ultimate operating system and went to control panel for uninstallation process. Within the uninstallation procedure, it halted with an error window.

The message displays as follows:

Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run Setup again from the original source disc or download location.
[OK]

If the OK button under the error window is pressed, the uninstallation procedure will be stopped. I want to understand what is meant by this error. I can’t install any new version without uninstallation of the existing one.

Is there any other way to get rid of MS office degraded files? Or is there any diagnosis needed?

The firewall has been kept off as it may conflict with the uninstallation process. I have no idea what to do further.

Does system file checker help?

Please provide guidance to solve this.

Thanks.

Dear,

Insert the Installation disk into the DVD ROM or run the "setup" from disk where it is installed and start installation . When installation is started select the option "repair" to repair the installation which has now been corrupt.

then

Insert the installation disk of already installed Office or run the "setup" from disk where it is installed. start the installation and when it shows options, select "remove" and you are done.

Hi!

You can use insert YOUR Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 installation disk and then click setup on that disk. Choose repair. Then do it once more and choose remove.

If it cannot be done with your Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, maybe you can do a system restore to a few days back. Then you can uninstall the former Office. But if you still have the same problem, maybe you can uninstall it manually!

(Make sure you make a system restore before you do these steps)

  • Go to the directory of Microsoft Office (it should be in C:Program FilesMicrosoft Office) and delete this folder.
  • Open regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMIRCOSOFTOFFICE. Delete this folder.
  • Open regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_USERSOFTWAREMIRCOSOFTOFFICE. Delete this folder.

Now, restart your computer and install the new Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.

Viola!

The net book does not have optical drive. The Office Enterprise I have came from a USB disk. Deleting it manually from my registry helps. Thank you so much.
