Hello Whiz,

I encountered a problem when I am working Spotify on Linux under wine. I got this error message all of a sudden. I googled to search for a solution then found that some dll is missing, how to fix the missing dll? Do I need to change any setting? Please help me to sort the problem. Thanks in advance.

Spotify crashes in Linux under Wine

Spotify is a program that was made to run under Windows. Linux is completely different than Windows so running Windows programs under Linux with Wine is, of course, problematic and also painful.

The problem happening here is because of a missing DLL file. As DLL files only run on Windows, not under Linux, you’ll have to install it under Wine to run Spotify perfectly.

1. Download winhttp.dll and unzip it.

2. Copy the unzipped DLL file into “/home/’your user name’/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32”.

3. Open Applications >> Configure Wine.

4. Click on “Library”.

5. Beneath “New override for Library”, find out and select “Add” >> press “OK”.

6. Restart Spotify.

If you’re a serious user of Spotify, there is a Linux version. Download Spotify for Linux.
