Software Loader 3 Error on Booting Up Windows 2000 PC

Hi. I need help with my Windows 2000 computer. Every time I try to boot up my computer I am getting a message telling me that there is a “Software Loader 3 error”. Then the computer just stops running. I tried to boot the computer using Safe Mode but I cannot even get to that point.

Does anyone here have an idea what the error message is all about and how I can fix it?Thanks.

You can use PC Cleaner Pro, a windows repairing program, to fix the problem. After that if your PC still has the same problem you can use ReimageRepair.exe. It specializes in Windows repair. It scans and diagnoses, then repairs, your damaged PC and not only fixes your Windows operating system, but also reverses the damage already done with its full database of replacement files.

Now you can finally run Windows Update. We need to make sure that Windows is up to date and has all the latest patches and updates installed. To do this we start by opening Windows Update. You can either search for 'Windows Update' in the search box at the bottom of the Start Menu or you can visit http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5 and it will automatically load it for you.

That's it, the problem should be fixed. Read more: http://www.ask-brian.com/fix-error.php?kw=#ixzz1ldBgXYhS

Another way you can follow:

The bottom line with loader error 3 is a problem with the Registry file called system. You can overwrite the files by using CD. Replacing the NTLDR file worked. Get yourself a windows 2000 CD. Boot up the computer from the CD. Once at the C: prompt do the following.

The commands in the quotes are what you should type. Do not actually type the quotes. The enter after the quotes is the key you should press to execute the command.

type "cd .." enter (this will take you to the root of the C: drive)
"ren ntldr ntloader" enter
"D:" enter (changes to your cdrom drive)
"cd i386" enter
"copy ntldr C:" enter
"exit" enter
