Hello all,

I was very much excited to learn a new language.

A friend of mine recommended me to use Rosetta stone language learning software. I bought a CD and tried to install it, but I was not successful as it ended up in an error.

The screenshot of the error is as follows:

Error executing file. The requested operation requires elevation

The error says:

Error executing file.

D:setup.exe

The requested operation requires elevation

Can anyone tell me what does this error mean and what can be done to remove the error?

Waiting for your suggestions.

Thanking you loads

Hello,

You should log in as Admin and install it from there:

When you run setup.exe s admin, you do exactly just this: the setup.exe is executed with elevated privileges. Just this file. I'm not sure about Vista as I don't use it, but normally the elevation is not inherited, so if there are other files that the setup.exe need to copy/install/dowhatever (if it is not just single executable) then that's exactly what should happen, since the other files are still run from your account (not as admin) But that's just "elevation" problem.

Installer may still crap out if the program itself wasn't written for NT6 (ie simply different variable in Vista can already crap it).
