I have windows 7 on my personal computer.

I have installed windows live messenger for Hotmail from the internet. but every time I login it disconnects after 5 to 10 minutes.

I am not getting any error, and I have also reinstall the messenger, but still this problem arises.

Please help me what to do?

  • Well there can be several reasons for disconnection of windows live messenger.
  • May be it’s your interconnect connection that keeps on disconnecting frequently. It must be very aggravating but you have to double check your internet connection.
  • Few months back one of my friend complaint the same, and she was absolutely sure that it only happens in her office network since using the same laptop at home does not cause her problem.
  • There can be some backend error like 80071392 error which is caused due multiple Windows Live Messengers running in the background, funny thing is you don't even see them appearing in the taskbar. phhhhhh
  • To fix 80071392 error, all you need to do is simply press CTRL+ALT+DEL buttons run Task Manager or right click the mouse at Taskbar and Start Task Manager. Check all the running processes, and end all processes that contain msnmsgr.exe. 
  • I may help you get rid of this frequent disconnection.

You can check your internet connectivity for such purpose if you are using a wireless connection then check your IP address is it configured by you or by some DHCP. The problem may be because the IP is not configured and it changes after some times and this cause is a little disconnect in your service and you know when there is a disconnection then it automatically disconnects the messenger also.

So you can check you IP setting and other settings as well if there is some wire problem then you can check it also. If the problem is after some specific time say after 5 minutes then see the settings of your connection and see the messenger settings as well. It will help you to solve your problem.

Login disconnects of windows live messenger after 5 to 10 minutes can be happened for several reasons.

If you have no problem with your software, it can be a cause of your internet connection so check your internet connection.

If you use wireless connection then check your IP address.
