Starting about 3 days ago, my Outlook program was running in the background without my knowledge and sending out virus emails to everyone referenced in my Outlook archived emails. I have Norton 360 and it isn't detecting a virus. HELP!!

  • This happens as your computer has been accessed by someone and he/she uses it as a virtual computer sending mails to your contracts in the address book or archive folder without your knowledge. The dangerous thing is that you cannot find these mails in your outbox or sent items even.
  • Please keep up to date your Norton 360 virus guard and do a complete scan. After some days if you see the same problem, it means that your virus guard cannot track this virus. In a case like this you have to seek a virus guard which can clean this virus.
  • As a precaution, you should not register on unnecessary sites with your e-mail ID.
  • Be more careful with these viruses
  • Win95/CIH virus, VBS/LoveLetter, WYX Boot, W32/Funlove, X97M/Laroux family, Worm.Happy99, W97M/Ethan family, PrettyPark.
  • worm, W97M/Marker family, Wscript/KAK Worm, W32/MTX, W32.Prolin@mm, W95/Hybris, W32/Magistr, W32.BadTrans@mm, HomePage aka VBSWG.X, W32.SirCam@mm, W32.BadTrans.B@mm, W32.Klez.E@mm

Hi

  • Try a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes.
  • Let MBAM remove any malware it finds.
  • Don't forget to update the definitions before the scan.
