Hello Bertha,

From what you are experiencing when connecting the iPod touch to a PC, you will need to restore the iPod. You will need to do the following:

  • You will have to download a custom firmware made from Pwnage and after that use it to restore the iPod.
  • Once it has been restored, it should be up and running without bringing the error message again.

Note that restoring the iPod is not the same as DFU, though the outcome is for the two processes might be the same. What restore does is simply resetting the iPod. DFU on the others hand redoes the iPod, which implies that all the software is will be erased then written over.

Regards,

Carl

I think this is no problem. That message appears by default every time you connect your iPod touch to your computer or any other iOS device because it detects that iTunes is present on your computer. If you don’t have iTunes on your computer, therefore, you will not be asked to connect it to iTunes or to install iTunes.

You can basically ignore the message if you simply want to charge your device through your desktop computer via the USB port. Since you have an iOS device and you are using iTunes with it, always make sure that it is up-to-date. Visit Download iTunes Latest to download the latest version. This download is intended for 32-bit operating systems.

If you have a 64-bit operating system, visit Download iTunes 64-bit.
