I purchased a graphic card and installed in my pc. My processor is Intel Core To Duo with 2gb ram and operating system is winxp. It was working fine but after few month display of the monitor it’s just black out. After that I reinstalled the card but no unique result provide. Hence after facing this problem I decided to check the card through different monitor and it was working fine there was no problem. Without install the card my monitor work fine. Please tell me some one what is wrong with that?

  1. A common problem is due to dust that collects on the graphic card slot.  Take out the graphic card and with a small paint brush you can brush over the metal parts and the graphic card slot.  Be very careful when doing this, as the slot is very delicate.
  2. Install the latest motherboard chipset drivers for your PC.  The chipset drivers of your PC make sure that the motherboard is functioning properly.  To install the chipset driver, you need to make sure which chipset is being used by the motherboard.  You can use a free program called CPU-Z which can identify the chipset.  Download the installer program here and just execute it to install the program.

Once installed, run the program and select the “Mainboard” tab. Once you have found the name of your chipset, go to the manufacturer of your chipset and download the latest driver there.

  1. Uninstall your old display driver and install the latest ones.  Even if you have the latest display drivers, you should uninstall it and reinstall it again.  Always remember to uninstall old ones before installing new ones, as this can sometimes cause problems. Always remember to uninstall your current display driver before reinstalling new ones.
  2. Check to see if your power supply is faulty as this can cause different video card problems.  The easiest way to check if the voltage of your power supply is running correctly is using the monitoring utility that came with your computer or motherboard.  These utilities can check for power supply voltage output, fan speeds and internal temperatures of your pc.  If you don’t have such a utility, you can use a program called SpeedFan   Some graphics cards can bear voltages which are not correct better than others. Newer graphics cards require that the range of the voltage should be between 11.6 and 12.4 volts.  The other alternative is to swap your current power supply and checking if the fault persists.
