Mountain Lion doesn’t detect any hardware on USB port

After the installation of Mountain Lion in my Mac Pro, my USB port didn't recognize my flash drive, SD card reader, etc. I was thinking to reformat my Mac but it was a very long process to solve this problem. Is there any way to resolve this without formatting my Mac?

Hello Charles,

You should not reformat the PC just yet for the problem may not be caused by the Mountain Lion operating system that you have installed. Try the following workaround first:

You should try using a third party USB controller and see if it will help resolve this issue. I will recommend Steer Mouse, which you can get on the internet. Though the name has got Mouse in the name, it still will be able to have other USB devices that you need to use on the computer work properly as well. A free trial of the application is available, and therefore you can try before you purchase it.

There are as well other USB mouse controllers which are supported on Macintosh, you just need to look for them online.

Regards,

Carl
