I have uninstalled a program, but I want to know the use of Microsoft Fix It. Can I use it to verify that MSE is completely uninstalled? It always happened that when we uninstall something, it was not completely uninstalled. Can Microsoft Fix It help me on this matter?

Hello,

Uninstalling MSE doesn’t require to use Microsoft Fixit tool to be uninstalled. First, try the normal uninstaller from Control Panel >> Programs >> Programs and Features. Select “Microsoft Security Essentials” >> hit “Uninstall”.

If this doesn’t work, then use this Microsoft Fixit tool to uninstall MSE.

Try downloading the latest installer, install and uninstall MSE. Download MSE. Run the installer, if the installation complete, restart your PC. Then, uninstall it and give a fresh install.

If none of above works, you should try removing the program manually. Learn how to manually uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials.

Microsoft Security Essentials is Microsoft’s own brand of antivirus. If your computer doesn’t have it when you bought it, you can still install it from the Microsoft website. The Microsoft Fix It utility is used to fix different problems on Microsoft Windows operating system. But if you want to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials using the Microsoft Fix It tool, I don’t think that’s possible.

You cannot use Microsoft Fix It to uninstall or remove another Microsoft product because it is not designed to do this. If you want to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials, do it in the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. If Microsoft Security Essentials can no longer be uninstalled because of a previous failed uninstallation, you can go around it by installing Microsoft Security Essentials back.

You can only uninstall a program if it is complete and reinstalling it will restore all its files. You can download it again from the Microsoft website: Microsoft Security Essentials. It requires Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or higher or Windows 7 and you must be using a legit copy of Microsoft Windows because it will check the authenticity of your operating system.
