Memory card wrongly detected as write protected

What is wrong with  my laptop's SD Card reader?

My laptop cannot read it, and it says it is write protected when in fact it is not. My laptop has no problem reading the same card before.  My camera where this card is used most of the time also has no problem reading the card.

I tried to access the contents of the card by connecting my camera to the laptop, and it worked, but this is a long process and not handy for me. I am more comfortable by  just inserting  the card to the reader slot. Do you have solutions to this glitch? Thank you for your replies.

Hello.

First I recommend that you try another sd card in the laptop to see exactly where the problem lies if you get the same error on 3 different sd cards then i'd say there is an issue with your card reader, but if other cards work then its a problem with your sd card. If that's the case the you should try these steps:

BE WARNED THIS WILL REQUIRE YOU TO DISMANTLE THE SD CARD!!!

The write protection feature

This feature allows you to prevent changes to the card the error your getting is not so much an error but its what the switch is telling it to do i recommend that you toggle the switch between lock and unlock to see if that changes it if it does then your ok its fixed! But if not then i'll assume that the switch is broken in a lock position to fix it in that case you would have to open it.

And correct the problem manually, but as for doing that i suggest that you take it to repair store.
