I have activated my Microsoft Office Software and due to some reason I have to reinstall my OS. I was wondering if it is possible to activate Office using the previous key, or I will have to purchase a new one?

Yes. It is still possible to use the key. I installed my operating system and microsoft office 2010 more than one time using the same key and there will no problems about it. Make sure you use original key because some pirated key can damage your computers.

Hallo Lorine,

If you have the key for the version of MS Office that you have installed, then that is the key you are supposed to use to activate it. Using a key that is meant for another version of MS Office will not be able to work. Other options you can use to activate that version of MS Office are as follows:

  • You can get another key to use for activation but you will need to call the MS Office support center and ask for the new key so that you can use it for activation. Use can visit the Microsoft Website to get more details.
  • You can try reinstalling the MS Office application and then use the same key you had used for activation. If it does not work, it might be possible that the application is corrupt and therefore you might need to get another version.
