Hi All,

I recently upgraded my computer and replace my hard drive and I installed a Win 7 Home Premium with Office 2010 (32 bit version). The issue that I am having here is that I cannot read any of my old personal Office files even my old pictures.

I try set also the permission of the files but still I can’t view them. I just want to transfer all the old files to my new drive. Please help me with this! Thanks in Advance!

Hello there!

You can choose the Windows Easy Transfer to easily transfer files to your new computer. Just go to the Start button and type Easy Transfer in your search box. In the list of results, click the Windows Easy Transfer.

Take note that only administrator accounts can only use the Windows Easy Transfer. Type in the administrator password if prompted. Also, files from the 64-bit version of Windows cannot be transferred to a 32-bit version of Windows. Other things to consider:

  1. Check if all the devices you are using will work with Windows 7.
  2. File and Settings Transfer Wizard is not compatible with Windows 7. If you use it, files in the Windows 7 cannot be restored.
  3. Change the file ownership of the old files. Right click on the file and select Properties. Go to Security > Advanced > Owner.
