I have to wireless devices connected to a remote wifi and one of the on the handheld phone seems to pick even the lowest signal while the other misses out on the desktop via USB. How can I improve the gain on the USB device so that I can get a better signal like the wireless on the phone? is this achievable?

Hello Hylon!

A typical wireless router signal has 100 feet. Different factors affects the signal strength of our wireless router. Like any microwave oven, cell phones, interfering other wireless signals. There are many ways on how to boost your wireless signal strength.

Keep distance of any of your devices like dvd player, cordless phones or any microwavable appliances that can lessen your Wi-Fi signal strength. Switching signal channels. You can switch from signals one to eleven. Change your routers mode. Standard routers uses 802.11 a/b/g. There’s a new router mode known as 802.11n, check if it supports or available with your router.  Raise your transmit power to “high.” Replace it with new antenna that will give or transmit you more power. Install a repeater or wireless “amplifier.” A reflector or tinfoil will make your signal also better.
