Hello fellow Techyv members.  I'm trying to run a 16 bit software using DOSBox.  Do I have to capture any LPT port for printing?  How do I configure DOSBox printer LPT in Windows?  I'm on a Windows XP 64 bit system.  Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Hi Donna,

Since you are using a 16-bit software for printing in a 64-bit system, you do have to engage an LPT port to do so and it order to capture LPT port, you need to use the following settings in ‘DOSBox.conf’ –

  • printer=true
  • dpi=360
  • width=85
  • height=110
  • ##printoutput=png
  • printoutput=printer
  • multipage=false
  • docpath=.
  • timeout=0
  • ##parallel1=disabled
  • parallel1=reallpt realport:\computer nameprinter share name
  • parallel2=disabled
  • parallel3-disabled

This will work.
