Thunderbird is a free and open-source application which can run on windows, Mac or Linux platforms for managing email and news feeds. Thunderbird is also available in several languages for easy usage.
First you must understand that Thunderbird is only an email application that is installed in your personal computer to send, receive, and forward emails. Thunderbird is not an email address provider or an email service provider. It’s widely used with ISP email accounts, Web-based email providers (like Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Windows live Hot mail) and Corporate email accounts for offline e-mail services. Instead setting up your email accounts, in Thunderbird we configure one or more e mail accounts for offline e-mail viewing.
Configuring a email account with Thunderbird is easy. You just need to provide your username and password of your email account together with your email address and Thunderbird will automatically determine connection details. After installing Thunderbird you are prompt to create a profile. You will be asked to type the details about your email account in a form like below or you can get the form by navigating to Tools -> Account Settings -> Add Account.
Then presses continue and Thunderbird will automatically determine account settings. After that hit create account to set up your account.
