Help in AD Database and server

Would I be able to obtain user passwords from the AD database?

I am on a slow WAN link.

How can I promote my existing location to a server to DC?

Is it possible to remove AD forcibly from a server?

What should I do after removing it from the server?

To remove the active directory forcibly from a server, you will need to demote the server using dcpromo/forceremoval command, and after that you will need to remove the metadata from Active directory using the ndtsutil command.

But for the user passwords, you will not be able to get them from AD, but you can only change them.

An alternative way to remove the AD will be as follows:

  • You will need to restart the DC is DSRM mode
  • And then you will locate the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlProductOptions
  • You will need to double-click ProductType in the right pane,
  • And then you will type ServerNT in the Value data box, and then click OK.
  • After that you will need to restart the server in normal mode
