I got a Lotus Notes error message saying that my public key was not found in the Domino Directory. How can I fix this error? I have been using this successfully, but now, I could not even start it. What should I do? Do I need to reinstall my Lotus application? Please give me suggestions on how to fix this problem. Thank you. I am really confused with this.

In lotus notes, the public key is stored in your user ID and the Domino Directory. There is also a private key which should be kept well, and therefore it is only stored in the ID file that you are using. Both the public and private are security keys, and they seem to have  a similar mathematical key ancestry, although their content and functionality differs a little.

These keys are used in  Lotus Notes and Domino Server in security situations some being authenticating with a server, signing email and even sending and receiving of encrypted mails. The public key will be used for encrypting the message while the private key decrypts the message on the receivers side.

So the problem may have occurred as a result of not following the best practices and neglecting the use of the public key.
