ESX Server Connection Failure during P2V conversion

Hi Guys,

I have been trying hard to achieve the conversion of ESX 4.0 Update 2.

ESX Server connection failure

Failed to connect to verify the server name, username and password are correct.

During an attempt, from Physical to Virtual conversion (P2V) to VMware ESX, I receive a weird error stating

ESX Server Connection Failure. This is witnessed during an attempt to reach out the destination for virtual disks (datastores).

I have bee bugging my mind over this issue for the past two weeks but all in vain.

Hi,

Your problem can be solved by the following process:

First convert recovery point to VMDK ( Server/ Workstation,not ESX)

Then move VMDK to ESX datastore ( Example: to use PSFTP)

Lastly use the VMKFS tools utility for importing the VMDK file into the VMFS file system of course in the correct format

But remember one thing : Use ESX 4.0 Update 1, not update 2 in this regard.

I think your problem will be solved.
