I always surf the web to check mails, check my other accounts and play flash games. But when visiting some sites I get an error on web page “404 Not found” and sometimes “Page cannot be displayed” what seems to be the cause of this web page error? Is the site unavailable or am I having a connection issue with their site?

When visiting web pages the common errors when that you see are the “404 Error”, “404: Not Found”, “Page cannot be displayed” and “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” It means that the web page you are trying to view is not found on the server.

You can try the following to fix this error:

  • Refresh the webpage by clicking the refresh arrow on the address bar. It often solves this issue when you refresh or reload the web page.
  • Check if you have typed a wrong URL on the address bar. A 404 Not Found error is displayed when a wrong URL is entered.
  • To confirm if the site is still available, move up from the directory of the URL, for example: www.address.com/1/2/3 just remove the last word or character or number from the address and see if it will load the page. By doing this you can find out that the page is still available or has been removed.
  • Test the URL with this link. It will tell you if the site is down or only you cannot access the page.
