Hi,

I am using software updater to keep my system up to date but I received an error message during the downloading an update using software updater. The following error says “Failed to download repository information”. I checked my internet connection and working fine then why am I getting this error? Help me to fix it.

Hi Thomas,

This is a known error in Ubuntu. Perform the below steps to resolve the error:

  1. Open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and use the following command: sudo apt-get update . Wait for this command to run completely. This will show you the source of the error, mostly a http address
  2. Open Software & Updates from Unity Dash and click on Other Software. Uncheck the source http which you got in the previous step.

 

  1. Run the updates

It should go through fine now.
