Can someone help me fix my Java control panel? I just installed the latest version of Java Runtime Environment, but whenever I use or open a web browser that utilizes a Java applet the browser freezes and shuts down.
I tried to look at the settings and configure it, but I could not open the Java control panel and an error report appears. I took a screen shot of the message. I hope someone can help me since, I view a lot of browsers that make use of java.
Java(TM) Control Panel.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
Error Installing latest Version of Java Runtime Environment
Here are simple steps to follow to fix your Java Control Panel. I presume that you are running a Windows XP Pro, SP1a, IE6 or SP1. First, Go to your control panel and uninstall all versions of Java Runtime.
Go to your local disk c:documents and settings<USERID>.java and delete all items in that directory. In your internet browser, go to java.com and download the manual installation guide for the latest version of java Runtime
. In IE, go to Tools, then click Internet options, click Advanced.
Unselect JIT Complier for Virtual Machine Enabled. Go back to your Java Control Panel and the click Advanced Tab. This time select the Java Runtime you want to use but never use the default.
Finally, select the Cache tab and click Clear Button.
