Good day techyv!

I am currently at my friend's house today and I notice on her Laptop that there are two notepads.

The one is Notepad while the other is Notepad++.

Aren't the two just the same? What's the difference between these two?

Difference between Notepad and Notepad++

Great, this is another addition to my collection of different notepad software. Besides having notepad on my computer, since it is the default text editor in Windows and comes pre-installed, I also use AkelPad as replacement or let’s say an alternative text editor in Windows to open and edit different text files and also HTML files. It’s a great alternative to notepad because it can remember all previous things you did on every file you open with it. Like for example, if you highlighted a couple of words before you closed the program, you will see those words highlighted again the next time you open the file.

And when you posted Notepad++, I might decide on downloading it and try it to see the difference. Notepad++, like AkelPad, is a text editor and also a source code editor all rolled into one. It is designed to be a tough and lightweight editor for different scripting and programming languages. One great advantage you can expect from this software is tabbed editing which will allow you to open and work on different files at the same time. Here are a couple of Notepad++’s features:

  • PCRE search and replace function [Perl Compatible Regular Expression]
  • Syntax folding and highlighting
  • Customizable syntax folding and highlighting
  • Zoom in and out function

If you wish to download and try Notepad++, you can get the latest version from Download Notepad++ 6.3.2. The latest version at the moment is Notepad++ 6.3.2. You can also find and download the previous versions of Notepad++ from the download page. Also try Notepad++ Portable, download the latest from Download Notepad++ Portable Latest.
