Hi,

My PC crashed recently, and it's now working on Windows XP service pack 2.

I wan to update it to SP3 but the update manager fails to download it. There's nothing wrong with my internet connection, but it doesn't respond to the MS server, I can hardly open Microsoft website.

So my question is, where can I download Service Pack 3 from a site other than MS's ?

Thanks

If your internet connection works pretty well then downloading Windows XP Service Pack 3 upgrade wouldn't be a problem. Maybe the reason why you are having problems getting the Service Pack 3 upgrade is that you are using the Windows’ update wizard. If that link doesn’t work then go use your internet browser and visit Microsoft’s website. Do the downloading manually instead of waiting for Windows XP’s update wizard to work.

But there are other websites that offer free download of Windows XP Service Pack 3 upgrade. Here’s some:

  1. http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/windows-xp-service-pack-3.html
  2. http://windows-xp-service-pack-3.soft32.com/
  3. http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-Windows-XP-Service-Pack-3/3000-18513_4-190061.html

Before downloading the Service Pack 3 upgrade from the websites I mentioned above try first downloading from Microsoft.
