Hi! There,

I need some serious help! I have been using Avira Antivirus for a year now, but something unknown happened that is causing this error to appear. I’m sure I did not touch or deleted any of Avira’s files. This is the first time that I came across this error. I tried locating it ,but was unsuccessful. I tried reinstalling it again and again but it's still there. I hope someone could help me with this. I’m starting to think that a virus might be the one causing this problem. I don’t want to take any further actions or tries for it might make my problem even bigger. Please help.

The application module
C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\cclib.dll
cannot be found or has been modified or destroyed.
The AVCENTER.EXE cannot be started.
Please check your installation!

Dear AngelaC,

Above mentioned error message shows that cclib.dll has been infected and deleted by virus. Your Antivirus has been trapped. So go to some online scanner site and clean your computer and download a fresh copy of Antivirus software from web. Re-install the Antivirus, after updating, run a complete system scan or download cclib.dll file from here and copy this file into your Antivirus folders.

Cheers!

Hi! AngelaC,

I understand your concern. Such trouble maybe due to a virus or a hardware problem. So here are the steps that you need to take to solve this issue:

  1.     You need to download AntiVirus to another system, one that is not infected.
  2.     Next is start rescued.exe file and insert a blank CD in the writer unit.
  3.     Select your burning device and click the burn button. You'll be able to see a message stating a successful burning. That disc will be your rescue disc.
  4.     Insert your rescue disc in your infected system, from there you should boot. Select Boot from rescue CD.
  5.     Select English as your language. A menu will appear at the end of the boot.
  6.     Select the option Scan your system with Antivirus.

Hope it will solve the issue.

Hello! Angela,

I bet that your AVIRA Antivirus is corrupted. Maybe it needs to be updated or have a new patch. To install your latest Avira, first you need to uninstall the old version of the Avira software.

In order to delete the file you need to have a CCleaner. You can find it in this link given. After downloading, RUN the software. This is an easy installation, so you just need to follow instructions until finish.

The CCleaner can now be found in the recycle bin on the desktop.

Right click it.

Then click open CCleaner.

Click "Tools" and find Avira (old Version) then "Uninstall" located above. Once the old version is removed permanently, download again the latest version of Avira  Antivirus. Just follow the steps above on how to manually install the software.

You have now your latest Antivirus personal 10.2.0.700 (Avira).

I hope that this will help you.
