I was aiming to add a child server to an existing domain controller but I was encountering such error: The FSMO role ownership could not be verified because its directory partition has not replicated successfully with at least one replication partner. What should I do about this one?

You will need to follow the procedure below to solve the problem that you are experiencing:

  • You will need to go to the "Active Directory Sites and Services" .
  • And from there, you will need to delete the services that are locates under "Sites, and then your site name, and then the Servers"

After you have done that, you will need to restart the computer, and then you will need to go to dcdiag and see if you will find any more replication errors. In case you do not receive any, then the installation of  the Exchange 2007  should just go on properly without any further errors.

This is a bit of uncharted territory for me but I think I have some suggestion if you would like.

  • Check if you got a domain server listed instead of not listing, lots of guys had their bad days because they forgot to do it.
  • There is a compilation of such issued at Microsoft Support site, explaining caused and resolution that can be help full to work through this problem.
