I am new to image processing and graphic designing. I am very curious to know about gimp and svg. Actually what are they? Can I save svg files in gimp? Are the gimp and svg in open source licenses? How can I use combination of these two for my graphical works? 

My laptop’ processor is core i 7 and OS is windows 8. As I know Everest latest version has been released  (Everest 5.50). I just want to know does the everest  latest version support my hardware of the laptop?
