Yahoo Messenger “We Are Unable To Process Your Request At This Time”

Dear TechyV helpful and nice people out there,

I am using Windows Vista and I have a solid rig. Today when I opened Yahoo Messenger I get the error "999 – Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request at this time". This whole day I was unable to use my Messenger which cost me several appointments. In am infuriated with this incident.

Please if anybody knows what is causing this problem, please tell so, If I don't fix this soon I might switch to Skype. And I have to import all my contacts which is A…..Lot of work.

Yahoo Messenger “We Are Unable To Process Your Request At This Time”

Error “999” is a runtime error that internet users who subscribe to any of the Yahoo services; mail, messenger, groups, news, etc. may possibly encounter at any point of time. Often, this happens while opening up any of the services mentioned and you’re hailed with the error message with an accompanying statement, “the service cannot be accessed at the moment, please try again later”.

To remedy this error you may try to do the following steps: first, open Internet browser and clear out the cookies and cache files. To do this, sequentially click on the following commands: "Tools", "Clear Private Data" in FireFox, "Tools", "Temporary Internet Files" in Internet Explorer, "Safari" in safari, "Preferences" and then "Internet Cookies." Second, turn off Proxy Server, if connected. Otherwise, skip this step.

If the above two steps cannot solve the issue, you can try downloading a different browser. A FireFox browser may do or an Internet Explorer or Safari through the Resources section. Lastly, start on the new browser and connect it back to the Yahoo! Service you want. Hopefully, it will load without any concerns. Thank you!

This error appears to be a "catch-all" error code that Yahoo serves up when it doesn't have a more specific error code. It essentially means "Oops! Something went wrong but we don't know what, so we'll just say that Error 999 occurred."

Problem: When trying to access a Yahoo service (i.e. Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Groups or Yahoo News), you receive the following error message:

Unable to process request at this time — error 999
Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later.

Operating System: Any.

Here are the facts about the discontinuation of Yahoo Messenger. After July 17, 2018, Yahoo Messenger will no longer be supported. After this date the service will no longer work and you will no longer be able to access your chats. You won’t be able to log into Yahoo Messenger. According to Yahoo, there is currently no replacement product for Yahoo Messenger.

You can still be able to download your chat history to your computer until the end of November 2018. To download your chat history, go to Yahoo Messenger Download Manager. Here, you need to log into your account again to verify. Once verification is successful, under “Yahoo Messenger data”, click “Download”.

Next, enter the email address where you want the notification to be sent when the download is ready then click “OK”. After this, just wait for the download on your email address. If you need to use a messenger like YM, just shift to Skype instead. If you haven’t done it yet, download the latest Skype for Desktop.

The latest version at the moment supports Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. It requires 1 GHz or faster processor, 512 MB RAM, and Microsoft DirectX 9 or higher. It also works on Macintosh and Linux as well as on mobile phones. For iOS devices, download Skype for iPhone.

The latest version at the moment requires iOS 10 or higher and works on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. For Android devices, download Skype for Android.
