Xperia Error: Unable to run update components on your computer

I'm trying to update my device software through PC Companion. But I keep getting the error: Unable to run update components on your computer. I understand that to be able to run the update, I should have an Internet connection. I checked on all the plugs, router and the likes, but they are all working correctly. What seems to be the issue now? Can anyone help? By the way, I'm using a Sony Xperia X10 device.

Xperia Error: Unable to run update components on your computer

You are correct! To correct the error, you may need to try any of the following:

1. To be able to continue with the update, both your device and computer should have access to the Internet. To verify this, visit any website and see if you can launch the site without any issues.

2. Ensure that your firewall allowed Internet access to both the Sony Ericsson Update Engine.exe and PCCompanion.exe.

3. If your device is connected to any corporate network, check the proxy server and contact your network administrator for any help.
