Hi,
I am a long-time Windows XP user, and I have never had a problem with using my webcam with the my PC.
Recently, I got a new Win-XP PC, but I found that I could not use my webcam with it. Windows does not even detect the device.
If I open it in the Device Manager, I get a message: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer.
(Code 45)". I checked the connection of the webcam many times, but could not find any fault. What should I do?

Right click on My Computer, and go to Properties.

Choose the Hardware tab, and then click on Device Manager.

Here a list of devices appears. The device has a red exclamation; it means this device is not attached. If a device is unknown or driver is not updated then the device has a yellow question mark.

Right-click the device that has the problem, and then clicks on Properties. This will open the device Properties dialog box. Here an error code will be displayed in the Device status area of this dialog box.

This command will display all previous devices that you have had installed on your PC. You can start removing devices that you are no longer going to use but still have drivers installed.
