My PC gives me an ‘mbr missing’ error. I do not think that I have done much on it to get this error, but here is how it started. I installed another HDD and then created another spanned volume on it using computer management settings. Now the machine cannot start and not even safe mode is accessible. What should I do?
Windows Vista gives mbr missing error
In Windows Vista, you need to boot up in the Recovery Environment and then run the bootrec command in the command prompt.
-
Insert the Windows Vista disc into your drive and press any key to boot up from the disc.
-
Choose Language, Time, etc. and click “Next”
-
Click on “Repair your Computer”
-
After choosing the Operating System to repair, click the “Next” button.
-
A dialog box showing “System Recovery Option” will come up, and choose “Command Prompt”
-
In the command prompt, type bootrec.exe and push “Enter”
-
This will fix the error
