I received this Windows error code, “Windows could not start the PostgreSQL Server 8.4 service on local Computer.

Error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.”

What does this mean?

I badly need help on this one.

Windows could not start the PostgreSQL Server 8.4 service on local Computer

Hi,

You might have set higher buffer size, lower the size to the range 512 – 1024 MB (postgresql.conf file). Also make sure firewall and antivirus programs are disabled, it would be better if you remove third party firewalls like zone alarm.

In my computer, right click on the postgresql under program files and select sharing and security. Now get in Advanced options, under security by clicking add. Choose postgres user in the pane below click ok. Highlight the postgres user in the top, click full control in below pane and click OK. Restart PT3 you are done.
