Hi everyone,

My computer automatically turns off after some time of inactivity. The power is set to it max performance and also modified to max without disabling anything. The Windows Update is not set to automatic to avoid auto-restart. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix this problem?

Hi Joseph,

Yes, definitely. You can change windows update settings in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. It looks like the problem is nothing to do with the Windows Update. The Windows Update task is to make sure that the applications/programs on system are updated to ensure the reliability, consistency and security of your machine. The problem would be the power plan of the machine. The machine turns off after a long period being idle this is because it consume more battery. To address this problem, you just only need to change the power plan from maximum performance to balanced as it is recommendable. This will balance the usage of the battery and performance of the machine.
