If you are trying to use the emulator on High Sierra MacOS, HAXM 6.2.1+ is required to ensure stability under MacOS. We had to manually fix the kernel extension to install as follows:
Try to install the latest version of HAXM through the SDK Manager. Go to your system settings -> Security and privacy. You will notice that a warning message of the software stating that “Intel Corporation Apps is blocked” is replaced by “Allow”:
