Hello Alison,

I am afraid there is no such thing as opening a word document from SWF file. This format is a rendered file from a native file (.FL/flash format file,etc.) commonly created by Adobe flash software, or Indesign CS5 and latest or any software that supports rendition of SWF or small web file format,

In order for you to extract the anything inside the SWF file. You must have source/native file of that SWF file. It's almost impossible to reverse engineer the rendered file, because it's sort of a flatten/cooked file.

The only file format own by Adobe System that can be reverted/converted to Doc/Excel file is the Portable Document Format file or PDF file, and that is through Adobe Acrobat Professionals. 

However, Nowadays Acrobat Professionals software supports SWF, They call it Interactive PDF. But the file format I should say is PDF still. Thus, you can only extract Text files when It's Interactive PDF and not purely SWF and then export it to DOC/XLS file.
