Where the power outlets are those kinds that are only for 2-prongs

Hi.

I am currently in this place where the power outlets are those kinds that are only for 2-prongs, meaning it doesn't have the third hole which is supposedly for the "ground prong". My PC has a 3-pronged plug. So what I could probably do is, I have to plug it into a 3-to-2 pronged adapter before plugging it into the power outlet.

My worry is, will this cause any issue or future damage to my PC? Is there any risk involved then?

Thank you so much for the input.

Hi Theresajmickens,

In your power cord, 3rd pin should need to connect to ground wire(earth). Ground wire connect to earth. If something short circuits in your computer or your external power cord, circuit connects to the ground. Result is  it will blow the fuse and cut off the electricity.  As you said, It`s not connected to ground. If you touch it, it will go through you. And there is some risk of fire as well. So my opinion is replace it as soon as possible. Life is more important than  everything.

Good luck
