Hi,

I  need an IT expert in this site, I'm planning to set up new internet cafe near school.

My question is:

1. Is it necessary to buy videocard per PC?

2. Do we need a big storage per PC?

3. What's the ideal OS?

4. What's the ideal  Bandwidth?

Hi Michael,

I'm just finishing my internet cafe this month, I have 16 PC. With regards to your question:

Installing a video card per PC is necessary in internet cafe especially at this time where most users are on the online gaming, i observe that 80% of my customers are in the online gaming, 10% using the internet including Facebook etc. 10% customers using YouTube or just video stream. With regards to the storage, there is no need to have huge storage, for me 200 GB will be enough per PC and the ideal operating systems should be Windows XP the service pack 2, the older version is the better because of it's lightly to use, compare to the new OS which is very complicated. The ideal bandwidth for internet cafe will be depending on your PC. Try to compute per PC if it accommodate 368 Kbps. If you have 10 PC for example, your requirement will be 3 Mbps to 4 Mbps. Just like that.

Hello Michael,

Here's my solution:

1. Is it necessary to buy a videocard per PC?

Ans: yes, you need to buy a videocard in terms of online games. I'll recommend you to buy NVIDIA GeForce 6150 GPU (on-board, 512MB shared RAM).For the graphics card, on board GPUs are mostly capable of running the majority of the online games now.

2. Do we need a big storage per PC?

Ans: yes, 320GB HDD was also chosen instead of a cheaper 80GB because in the long run, the resale value of the former will make up for the price difference. 320GB HDD is highly required for storage specially putting lots of games.

3. What's the ideal OS?

Ans:  Windows XP professional is a good OS but  if  we're talking about Games, some applications are not compatible with Windows Xp Pro because of the high requirements of the application. I'll recommend you to choose Windows 7 which is the best because all games are compatible and met all requirements.

4. What's the ideal  Bandwidth?

2mbps or 3mbps  is enough for 15-20 PC.

                                        It is a great idea to open an internet cafe near a school. As we have seen the popularity of using computers for everyone continues to increase. Set up your Internet cafe which includes, network set up, Laptops, Desktops, and software installation, and security system and other specialty such as comforts for seating, food and drinks. Have photo state, lamination and (pco) isd also, because there is a school nearby many students wants many things. One of the most important points for internet cafe is that you have to make customers satisfied and to provide all the facilities whatever he/she wants, even the newspaper and magazines so that they come again.
 
Ans 1. In my view there is no need of video card per PC, because cafe is just for surfing not playing games, but If there a demand of playing games in your cafe, video card can be set up any time.
 
Ans 2. No, u didn’t need a big storage per pc, because i have personally seen that in the cafe we mainly use to download documents or to print documents etc. Normal storage capacity is 320 gb which is cheap any max for a pc . But you can have less capacity like 80 gb per pc .and in 2-3 pc it should be 320gb.
 
Ans3.  The operating system should be Windows Xp Service pack2.
 
Ans4. In my view bandwidth should be as per your no of computers, because cafe is for surfing in my view a connection with speed 512 kbps will be used for 7-8 computers, and 2 Mbps speed can be used for more than 15 computers.
