I use a HP Spectre laptop. I noticed that the hpqwmiex process is eating up on my processor. I saw this in the task manager after I noticed that my laptop had started slowing down. What is this process?

What Is The Hpqwmiex Process Is It Harmful

The hpqwmiex process is only present on HP (Hewlett Packard) computers. This is associated with the HP Software Framework WMI Service. It is not clear as to what this process actually does but it seems to be essential to the system.

As far as the question of whether it is harmful is concerned, it is advised that until your antivirus tells you otherwise, you want to keep this on your computer. If a virus or malware has attacked your machine then the antivirus on your computer should detect it during the scheduled system scan.

If it is the case and you have indeed been infected with a virus or malware hidden in the name of the hpqwmiex process, then you should remove it immediately. Until then, let the system be.
