What is a good picture background remover software?

Hi.  I have a lot of JPEG images that I would like to edit.  I would like to remove the background of some of the images.  Can someone suggest a picture background remover software?  I'm on Windows Vista 64 bit.  Thanks.

But I will suggest you to use Adobe Photoshop in this regard.
