What is error related to alg.exe?

Alg.exe or Application Layer Gateway is a service on your computer that is responsible for connecting your machine to Internet. When you create an ICS or Internet Connection Sharing Application Layer Gateway is required. This service is included on you Windows Operating System whenever you installed it on your computer.

The default location of alg.exe is under Windowssystem32 folder; if you are not sure how to deal with this kind of error, do not just disable this process from the Task Manager because you will not be able to connect to the Internet anymore.

• If you encountered this error after you have recently installed any application software, then uninstall this program because this might be the reason why you are experiencing this kind of error.
• Try to do a system restore on your computer. To access the system restore, Click Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

If you perform the above solutions and still the problem is still there, I recommend you to perform an in-place upgrade. Repair your computer using your Windows Installation CD. This will not erase all files on your hard drives; it will only replace windows system files.
