What can i do with this software, hijackThis..

A computer repairing place, put HijackThis on my computer about a month ago and never told me.

I just discovered it. Do I need to run it or does it just run automatically?

I opened the file but I really don't know anything about it. Maybe they set it so I don't do anything. Not sure!

What can i do with this software, hijackThis..

This is a spyware software which helps to analyse the computer. To this you have to start HijackThis and run a scan.

This is a program that scans any Malware i.e if anybody is spying on your computer. If you use the internet this will help you a lot as people try to get into your system with some files and try noting passwords and other financial information.

This is a software which helps you to maintain your computer and protect it using HijackThis. So it will not harm you computer and you will have to run it manually. It does not run automatically unless you start scan.

Hello!

HijackThis is a software that performs computer monitoring. This monitors the configurations/ plugins of your browser. This also scans through your system registry and files to make sure that there are no spyware/ hijacker programs left in it. 

After scanning, it will present a list of the scan results. With these results, it would be much easier for you to identify which files are infected and needs to removed from the registry/ files.

It is good that you have this in your computer, but if it is causing some problems, then you can have it removed.

There are various uses for Understanding and Interpreting HijackThis Entries. Reading through a help guide is always a good start to using specialized software like HJT.

There are also online HJT readers that will help you understand the results found in the scan logs.

Always be sure what you are removing. You can seriously damage a system with HJT by not knowing what you are doing.
