I was reading an article about IBM and came across a term as400 terminal. I am usually a computer geek so I was surprised I had never heard of that term. I would like if someone could explain that to me.

What is the as400 terminal in reference to IBM?
This is interesting. IBM’s first ever computer range was actually introduced on a platform called as400 terminal, a term you might better understand as Application System/400. This happened in 1988. Later, the server was renamed to the better known iseries.
It might be interesting to note that the project of as400 was assigned a codename as "Silver Lake", after the lake at which the development first took place.
