Near Field Communication is becoming more popular, and there are rumours that the next iPhone will be NFC enabled. Is this true? If so is the hardware on the current iPhone compatible with this?

Will existing iPhone users be able to upgrade their phones to enable NFC? thanks.

NFC technology stands for (Near-FIeld Communication) , the use of this technology is to replace the payment cards like visa , mastercard , ATM , .. by the mobile phone itself , so you can use your mobile phone for payment directly by expose your mobile to a specific reader and it will work as a payment card

For the next generation of IPhone apple not decide yet to supply it with the NFC feature or not and still watching the mobile payment market and how the users will be familiar with that technology

And for the current iPhone : unfortunately it doesn't contain the NFC chip because that features is based not only on software program but also on hardware chip that must be included into the phone

So this feature can't be upgraded by software for the current user and they never can have it
