I’m getting problem with any webcam software when I start the cam:  "Error 418 capture device was not detected".
Is it running on background, and if yes, what name should I End Process in Task Manager?
Restarting the PC does not fix it too.
Please help.
Webcam installation error while accessing it
That problem may be occurring because you have not installed the webcam driver, and if you have installed them something might have happened to them that caused them to be corrupt or be removed.
You should go to the device manager and try to reinstall the webcam drivers. Here is the way to go about it:
-
On your computer, locate Computer and right click on it.
-
ChooseSystem Properties, and then in the window that will open click on Device Manager.
-
In the window that comes up, from the list look for webcam drivers, and then right click on them.
-
Choose the update drivers option and then choose to update the drivers online.
Note that your computer should be connected to the internet for it will need to search the drivers online, download them and install them on your computer.

Webcam installation error while accessing it
Hello Kayla,
You will need to check the IRQ's on your computer and ensure that they have been configured properly. If you are using Windows XP, you can find the IRQ's in the following folder location: Start/Accessories/System Tools/System Information.
Another thing that you should try doing is starting up the system in Safe Mode and after that you can uninstall the card and all its associated software. If the card worked before and it is failing to work now, it is possible that the IRQ's were not a problem before.
You may have installed some hardware or software that is causing a conflict.

Carl
