Hi,

You are absolutely right. I think it’s wiser to take alternative instead of windows on the media player. In fact, there are a lot of problem in if you use windows media player for DVD playing. I would suggest you take “KM Player” or “VLC Player”.

KMP Video Mode

Basically, Both of them are suitable for any type of DVD or Blue-ray quality performance.

Best of luck.

If you have a DVD video disc and you want to watch it on your computer, you need a DVD drive to play the disc. A standard CD-ROM drive doesn’t support DVD disc. On the other hand, if you want to play a DVD file (*.vob) with Windows Media Player and this error appears, it means your computer doesn’t support DVD yet.

To allow Windows Media Player to play DVDs whether disc or VOB file, you need to have a DVD drive like DVD-ROM or DVD writer. Windows Media Player adapts to the kind of hardware installed on your computer. One workaround to allow you to play DVD files is to use other media players like VLC. Download the latest VLC media player.

It supports playback of DVD movies. Another good media player is MPlayer for Windows. It supports playback of HD movies.
