If you happen to encounter the error message, “Threat Detected,” this could be caused by the misconfigured update that affected installations of AVG 7.5 and AVG 8.0 on XP.

Although Vista seems to be not affected by it, a lot of people have said otherwise. You may go to AVG for step-by-step instructions on how to restore your computer’s working state.

I had AVG installed and then updated to Vista my firewall would not work so i contracted AVG and download recent AVG update after a reboot try if it is working again for you to identify the cause of the problem.
